Brian Thomas' CD, Prairie Rain, has been nominated
for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the category, "Best
Instrumentalist, Solo." The awards will be presented on
December 1st, 2007 in Gatineau, Quebec.
My Grandmother passed away recently. It wasn't exactly unexpected, nor was it without
blessing, though it is hard to ever call such a loss a blessing. In the last few weeks of her
life she suffered greatly, and her husband of 64 years suffered with her, doggedly
refusing to stop caring for her, despite her continuing battle with Alzheimer's disease,
and later cancer. Though grievous, death is also a reprieve from the struggle that life
inevitably is. The struggle begins with labour pains and ends as we labour for our last
breath, and in between are trials immeasurable. Stillness arrives after years of thrashing
against the confines of our mortal bodies. Click here for the song and the rest of the story.

The latest release from Brian Thomas, almost three years
in the making, is now available online. "Delicate, tasteful beauty infuses both the
performance and composition of these varied folk pieces. You have the feeling that you
meet the composer's soul in his music and that you are better for the acquaintance."
(Cam Bastedo) "Thomas hits the nail on the head." (www.cdreviews.com)
